St. Petunia is the patron saint of Scumblers....those painters using oil or acrylics who employ a technique which involves applying a thin layer of paint with a dry brush and a loose hand over an existing layer. That way the already existing paint below may remain exposed.

Sometimes, a Scumbler can use the dry brush over wet paint...but, he/she must be careful not to blend the colors...or else he/she will  immediately regress to the status of  a mere "painter" again and his/her dreams of  becoming a true Scumbler will be shattered forever after.  Worst of all, he/she will be regarded as a sinful infidel and shunned by all true Scumblers.
