That day when a young woman broke into Le Muse'e's 1999 exhibition "Disreputable Parenthood" and attacked Togo's painting known as "La Mère De Toutes Les Mères" was one of those momentous occasions in the history of modern Art that can only be pictorialized by a famous artist such as Togo, himself...and then, that picture becomes even more famous than his victimized painting!
The attacker's reason for the outrageous incident was later published by her in her autobiography "I Hate Mama" and quickly settled on the NY Times' bestseller list for thirty-two weeks. The author then appeared on many TV and radio talk shows and she grew quite famous and wealthy. From her villa in Tuscany, she continued to write four more books about her hatred for her mother. When the Hollywood version of her life was released starring Angelina Jolie, it created another scandal because critics claimed that the actress herself actually hated her real-life father, Jon Voight, and so, she was miscast as the original attacker.
The criticism fell on deaf ears as the movie went on to break box-office records. Two sequels followed in success as well before becoming a cable TV series starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. To date, this story has inspired hundreds of more articles and books by more people around the world who have blamed their mothers for all kinds of emotional crimes.
