Togo still doesn't know where those black gloves came from, but, for decades they've been a useful inspiration for many of his portraits.  He thinks they may even go back as far as his mother's bordello in NYC and, then, traveled across the Atlantic to her Parisian bordello, and, then, somehow, they latched on to his own assorted paraphernalia that has accompanied him to various places around the globe until this very day. 

No matter their origin, when a model, like Lina here, discovers the gloves lying somewhere in the studio, they just have to pose with them...as if the black gloves added magic, as well as, glamor to the scene.  Well, perhaps, they do.
