Raye was a well-known call girl and nude model in mags back in the 1960s-70s in NYC when the preliminary sketches for this picture were made. But,  except for one watercolor, most were later destroyed in a fire. From that watercolor, Togo was able to complete this full portrait.  Togo's best friend Teddy Fanger married Raye and they collected and protected a good amount of Togo's artworks while the artist was in prison.  In 1984, quite by accident, Teddy discovered the true murderer of Togo's mother years before and he stabbed the man to death.  Before Teddy could be tried in court, he died of a heart attack. Raye passed away in 2018.
